IN our new online column, ALINA POLIANSKAYA finds out who's wearing what in Camden Town this week:
Russian student Ekaterina Tcyrlnekova, 22, mixes up the designer with high street. She wears a statement leopard-print Moschino coat, shoes from Zara and other items from H & M. She said: "I just open my wardrobe and think, what mood am I in today? It's just very me."
James Finneral, who works at Camden Market, describes his style as a "sloshpot". The 24-year-old got his shirt from a market in Thailand, trousers from TK Maxx, shoes from a vintage shop in Camden and got his "bargain jacket" from a charity shop. He said: "My shades were a freebie, my old matey from the market gave me them. And the hat… well that's a whole other story."
Serena Sabella, 18, has thrown together a mix of grungey clothes that she has picked up from small shops all over Camden. “You can get stuff that's really nice but cheap, I love it," she said. Today, she is working promoting a tattoo parlour.
Emma Davenport, 19, is visiting Camden for her friend's birthday and is enjoying exploring the market where she has just bought a pair of quirky round shades. The student, who has multiple piercings on her face and a blend of purple and blue hair, describes her style as "a bit crazy". Despite appearances, she claims her chin piercing didn't hurt at all, but the one in her nose was definitely the worst.
Serena Williams (no relation to the tennis star), 28, wears a top and shorts from Primark, shoes from ASOS.com and a jacket from a charity shop. The dance teacher, who spends lots of time in Camden, says she loves colour and wears anything that is a little bit different.
Katie Hathaway, 22, originally from Surrey, wears a vibrant mix with an Egyptian dress from a charity shop, a seatbelt around her waist and little cake earrings. The jeweller, who has just had an exhibition in Angel, said: “I like hideous things, basically… anything hideous, I'll wear it.” To prove her point, she proudly shows off the new mutli-coloured neon handbag she's just bought from Camden market.
